OUR ORCHESTRA PROGRAM offers lessons for budding string players ages 6-14. Within the beginner class students are assigned one of their two preferred string instruments which they will study throughout their years in the MATT program. Following that year, students are placed in one of the three class levels that best suits their needs, at the discretion of the Orchestra Program Coordinator and instructors. When they are sufficiently advanced we encourage our students to audition for the local youth orchestras. To inspire them further and help them realize the future possibilities of their musical training, we facilitate their attendance at live orchestra concerts at the Rose Theatre and Thompson Hall through affordable ticket prices. Currently, ELEVEN of our MATT graduates are performing in the Rosebud Orchestra, several with leadership roles.

Class Levels

Our Orchestra program has 4 distinct class levels; Beginner, Intermediate (Level 1 and 2), and Advanced. Students progress through the levels as they master their skills, with an audition requirement to enter the Advanced class.

Private LESSONS

After four months of the Orchestra program, students receive private lessons on a bi-monthly basis. All private classes are booked on availability and throughout different times of the week.

SMALL ENSEMBLE

Students from the intermediate level up are offered the optional opportunity to play in a small ensemble. In these ensembles of 2 to 5 students, each student must carry a separate part independently.

Note** Music at the Towers is designed as a Beginner Program only, for those children who have not had the opportunity to study the violin, viola, cello, or bass previously. We do not accept students who have studied these instruments privately elsewhere.

Children who have played other instruments are welcome as this can sometimes be helpful to progress.

Intermediate 1B: 5:45 to 6:30pm

Toscanini: 6:45 to 7:30pm
